niche marketing it can be useful to the online shop for establishing 
trends.  For example sales data can be used to establish demand 
information for individual products.

Weightings can be allocated to each constituent and a value is given 
to them. 

The nature and size of your online shop has something to do with the 
amount of internal information available. The important thing is  to 
make sure that what information can be obtained is used in the web 
design where possible. 

Niche marketing answers the unspoken customer question of what is in 
this product for me. There is little point in keeping statistics that 
are of no value in answering questions like these.

Segments can be weighted in the web design according to by area or by 
socio-economic group - if the segment is national then niche marketing 
weight can be towards one particular area rather than another because 
very few products have an even spread.
